Sunday Brunch with Jaffareadstoo ~ Maggie Christensen

On this quiet Sunday morning why don't you put the kettle on, make your favourite breakfast and settle down for Sunday Brunch with Jaffareadstoo

☼Good Morning, Maggie. Happy Sunday !

What favourite food are you bringing to Sunday brunch?

I’m bringing a sundried tomato, olive and onion damper – it’s a delicious unleavened loaf. Recipe available on request.

Would you like a pot of English Breakfast tea, a strong Americano, or a glass of Bucks Fizz?

Oh, Buck’s Fizz, please!

Which of your literary heroes are joining us today?

I’d love it if Simon Serrailler from the Susan Hill books and DCI Maxwell Finley-Ryan from LJ Ross’s Inspector Ryan books could join us.

What’s the title of the book nearest to you?

Singapore Sapphire by A. M. Stuart. It’s the first in a new series set in early 20th century Singapore which promises to be excellent.

What’s the oldest book on your book shelf?

A very old and worn hardback copy of Little Women which was a school prize for one of my relatives in 1914. It has beautiful illustrations in the frontispiece and throughout the book, and the pages are as thick as cardboard.

Which book do you really want to read but haven’t had time for …yet!

I can’t think of one – I’m such a voracious reader, I tend to read every book I want to as soon as it hits the shelves

Do you have a guilty reading pleasure, and if so will you tell us about it?

Not really, but I have to admit I binge read both LJ Ross’s Inspector Ryan books and Lucinda Riley’s Seven Sisters series

If the house was on fire which book would you rescue?

I’d grab three – the first three in Marcia Willett’s Chadwick Family Chronicles: Looking Forward, Holding On and Winning Through .

Do you have a reading/writing playlist on Spotify, or a favourite CD to listen to when reading/writing? And if so will you share with us a favourite song or piece of music that makes you feel happy?

No, I prefer silence for both reading and writing.

Do you have a favourite place to settle down to read/write?

I love to lie on the sofa to read, and I like to write on my laptop at the dining room table, despite having a perfectly good office.

Give us four essential items that a writer absolutely needs?

This writer needs her laptop, her thesaurus, her emotional thesaurus and her notebook.

What can you tell us about your latest novel, or your current work in progress?

The Life She Wants is book 3 in my Granite Springs series set in a fictional country town in Australia. It’s a heartwarming tale of midlife second chances filled with emotion.

She’s a strait-laced, inhibited career woman. He’s an aging hippie who acts without thinking. What could they possibly have in common?

Fran Reilly has hidden a secret sorrow for the past thirty years. But turning fifty and losing her mother forces her to re-evaluate her future. Returning to her home in Granite Springs, she’s determined to make changes to her well-ordered life. However, there are more changes in store than she could ever have imagined.

When Owen Larsen applies for the position as Head of the new School of Music and Drama at the university in Granite Springs, his only concern is to leave the rat race of Sydney and find a more peaceful existence in the country.

Owen is the exact opposite of everything in Fran’s well-ordered world and reminds her of a past she has been at pains to forget. And Owen’s country idyll isn’t proving to be as peaceful as he imagined.

Can these two opposites find common ground and is there a future for them in Granite Springs?

It is due for release on March 9th and can be pre—ordered getbook.at/TheLifeSheWants. Books 1 and 2 in the series are The Life She Deserves getbook.at/TheLifeSheDeserves and The Life She Chooses getbook.at/TheLifeSheChooses.
