This man was shadow and night. He was Darkness.

Homeless Aliette is saved from punishment for stealing by a mysterious knight. To stay alive, she’s informed by this stranger that she must claim his child as her own. She should fear the dark knight’s power, yet it’s clear there’s more good to this man than he’s prepared to show. Can she break down the barriers of the tortured knight she calls Darkness?

What did I think about it..

Her Dark Knight’s Redemption is the eighth book in the Lovers and Legends series and even though I hadn’t read any of the previous books I was able to easily enjoy this story on its own merits but, of course, as with any series, it’s best to start at the beginning and work your way along.

At the start of the novel we are introduced to Sir Reynold Warstone whose complicated past and edgy personality means that no-one around him is safe from either his irascibility or constant bad humour. Accustomed to having his own way in everything to do with his life, Reynold enlists the help of Aliette, a homeless young woman who has more than her own fair share of problems, but this complex partnership brings with it complications of a very different nature for both Reynold and Aliette.

Throughout the story there’s an authentic historical feeling and the author certainly brings the thirteenth century alive. I especially enjoyed watching how the relationship between Reynold and Aliette developed and their, at times, passionate responses to each other. There’s a definite sense of light and shade within the story and the author does a great job of keeping the tension high whilst at the same time allowing a passionate love story to develop. I sense that I am being deliberately vague about the plot because it’s far too easy to reveal too much and that would, most certainly, spoil the overall effect of this medieval romance.

I love a good medieval romance and Her Dark Knights’s Redemption definitely has all the right ingredients to entertain. The relationship between the angry dark knight and his beautiful redeemer is  complicated, but the myriad of emotions expressed, from anger, fear, confusion, through to lust, attraction and overwhelming passion, all help to create a lively and entertaining read.

Beautifully written, Her Dark Knight’s Redemption is an fascinating medieval romance. I am sure that fans of this series will enjoy discovering Reynold and Aliette’s passionate love story.
