Let’s Talk About Cats: Conversations on Feline Behaviour features 16 unique in-depth conversations with devoted feline experts, each chapter answering a question about our cats. An abundance of catty conversation points which provide many useful takeaways for cat owners to improve their own every-day connection with their cats. This book, the first of its kind, presents the combined wisdom of experts from all over the world on the psychology, behaviour, diet and training of cats, in a relaxed and conversational style.Contributors include Jackson Galaxy, star of My Cat From Hell, and composer David Teie, whose ground-breaking album, Music for Cats, was released by the Universal Music Group. Each illuminating chapter exudes a love for cats and a wealth of fascinating insights. This book is packed with helpful advice, guidance and true stories from the author’s own professional experience of cat care topics, explaining the most important cat concepts, giving food for thought and expanding on all the most important issues and debates in the cat world.

My thoughts..

I’ve been a cat guardian for most of my life and every home I have lived in needed one to make it feel complete. I never fail to be enchanted by these enigmatic creatures who can treat you disdainfully one minute and then break your heart the next. Both Jaffa and Timmy certainly know how to turn on the charm when they want extra treats or a warmer blanket.

Let’s Talk about Cats is an informative book about all aspects of cat care and cat behaviour, from making that all important decision to become a cat guardian, one not to be taken lightly, through to how to look after and care for an elderly cat, again not something to undertake without much patience and consideration.

The author’s expertise in feline behaviour comes across, and she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the subject. The book is divided into easy to manage sections so that you can easily find whatever it is you’re looking for. Of course, you can read sequentially, from start to finish, but, personally, I found it most helpful to search through the book for specific topics. I enjoyed the author’s easy style of writing, she obviously loves and understands cats, and cat behaviour, and this comes across in the amount of really useful information she has included so that, even thought I thought that I knew quite a lot about cats, I still found much to enjoy and learn about subjects I hadn’t ever considered such as if cats grieve, or if they enjoy music, or how they communicate with us humans.

I think Let’s Talk about Cats is a good all encompassing book which shares a wealth of information about this fascinating creature, from all important care and consideration, to anecdotal stories of cats that the author and other contributors have known and loved. I particularly enjoyed each clear chapter division which had a lovely cat photograph and an interesting cat quotation, including my favourite from Terry Pratchett ‘ In ancient times cats were worshipped as Gods; they have not forgotten this’.

Let’s Talk about Cats is purrfect for anyone who loves cats be they new, or experienced, in feline care.
