My thanks to the publishers for my copy of this book

I wanted to start the year with a feel good story, one that made me smile and which gave me a happy ever after ending, and The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts certainly lived up to expectations. This one has been nestled quietly on my shelf since 2016, so, I think that it's about time it had its own day in the spotlight.

On the death of Lavinia Thorndyke, Posy Morland inherits Book Ends, the book store which has been a huge part of her life for as long as she can remember, however, Sebastian Thorndyke, the grandson of her benefactor can't help but interfere in the running of Book Ends much to the dismay of Posy. However, despite the shop staff's best efforts the book shop is failing and as Posy's new idea of re-branding it as a one stop shop for romantic novels takes shape, so she gets drawn into conflict with Sebastian who seems determined to do what he thinks is best for Book Ends.

The story is light and easy to read with some lovely moments which made me laugh out loud, especially the angst ridden interaction between Posy and Sebastian. The other supporting characters are a joy, especially the book shop staff and Posy's fifteen year old brother Sam, who all add some lovely light and shade to the story. And as Posy's scatterbrained plans for the relaunch of the book shop start to take place I was really impressed with the attention to detail, so much so, I very much wanted to see the finished result, and especially wanted to see the newly designed tote bags, candles and book marks!

The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts was this author's first novel and she has since gone on to write more in the The Lonely Hearts series. The latest in the series, Crazy in Love at the Lonely Hearts Book Shop is expected to be published by Harper Collins in February 2018.
