Wishing you a Merry Christmas

WHAT’S YOUR EARLIEST CHRISTMAS MEMORY?
Goodness, let me think. Probably sleepless Christmas Eve’s waiting for Santa to arrive, but never actually seeing him … and then the amazement of waking and finding a pillowcase of presents at the foot of by bed! Also happy memories of my Nan at Christmas, I really miss her.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS?
Not really. I have always promised myself I’d go to Midnight mass for the atmosphere but have still never got round to it. Maybe this year!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE FESTIVAL CAROL OR SONG?
I do like Silent Night. From school days and being in the orchestra. Playing carols for friends and relatives on our electric organ at home was one of my Christmas duties.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS FILM?
Has to be the Wizard of Oz. Christmas wasn’t Christmas without it in my youth! But I do also try to watch a version of A Christmas Carol and Oliver every year too!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS READ?
I tend to always go back to the Classics at Christmas – so I’d say Charles Dickens.
ARE YOU ORGANISED OR LEAVE EVERYTHING UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE?
I seem to be getting worse as I get older. I used to be much more organised. Now, I’m still wrapping presents on Christmas Eve and realising I’ve missed posting someone a card after the last posting day!
CHRISTMAS TREE – REAL OR ARTIFICIAL?
Artificial. I love the idea of a real tree but you need the right room to carry it off I think.
TINSEL OR GLITTER?
Tinsel. Glitter is too messy!
GINGERBREAD LATTE OR ORANGE SPICED HOT CHOCOLATE?
Both! How can you choose?
MINCE PIE OR YULE LOG?
Mince pie unless it’s an expensive yule log with real chocolate – I have a phobia about cooking chocolate!
CHRISTMAS DINNER – TRADITIONAL TURKEY OR SOMETHING DIFFERENT?
Traditional. I always look forward to it, but increasingly I’m disappointed. I think it’s the amount of effort that goes into making dinner. I do like turkey though and you can’t beat Xmas pudding with brandy custard!
CHRISTMAS TIPPLE – BUCKS FIZZ / MULLED WINE OR SOMETHING STRONGER?
There’s an underlying theme here but all of them! I always love a large bottle of Baileys at Christmas too - that’s my special treat.
A FUN GAME OF AFTER DINNER CHARADES OR MORE CHOCOLATES AND TV?
Television. Chocolates, wine and cake. That’s me sorted.
