I'm delighted to welcome Lynda Renham to share Sunday Brunch
Welcome, Lynda. What favourite food are you bringing to Sunday brunch?
I’d have to bring a homemade salmon and green pepper quiche, which always goes down well with my friends. A Waldorf salad and, if I'm brave enough, a homemade tiramisu, using a recipe my Italian friend gave me, if you don’t mind being a guinea pig, of course.
Would you like a pot of English breakfast tea, a strong Americano, or a glass of Bucks Fizz?
A lovely pot of breakfast tea, please. I rather think a Bucks Fizz first thing in the morning would leave me a little tiddly and we wouldn’t want that, would we?
Where shall we eat brunch – around the kitchen table, in the formal dining room, or outside on the patio?
If it’s lovely and warm then on the patio, please. Otherwise the kitchen table. There’s nowhere more sociable than the kitchen is there?
Shall we have music playing in the background, and if so do you have a favourite piece of music?
I always like a nice bit of smooth blues. How about some Ella Fitzgerald in the background?
Which of your literary heroes (dead or alive) are joining us for Sunday Brunch today?
Iris Murdoch. Who else?

‘London Belongs To Me’ by Norman Collins. If you haven’t read it. I highly recommend you do.

Things people say. Things I see or read, or sometimes just out of nowhere.
When you are writing do you still find time to read for pleasure? And is there a book you would like to read but haven’t had time for …yet!
Oh, yes, I love reading. I still have to get round to Margaret Atwood’s ‘The Testaments’
Have you a favourite place to settle down to write and do you find it easier to write in winter or summer?
The weather doesn’t bother me at all but I do like to write in our little summer house which we have made cosy and peaceful.
When writing to a deadline are you easily distracted and if so how do you bring back focus on your writing?
I’m always distracted, either by social media or messages from friends. I tend to pull myself back quite easily, though and when I’m really focused I don’t get distracted so easily.
Give us four essential items that a writer needs?
Something to write your story on, laptop or notepad. Good grammar and spell checker and plenty of tea.
What can you tell us about your latest novel or your current work in progress?
It’s a romantic comedy but I haven’t got very far so there isn’t much to tell you except that a haunted house is involved.

The Lies She Told
Life in the village of Stonesend is pretty uneventful, that is until Detective Tom Miller is transferred there following a personal tragedy. He is not greeted well by local police officer Beth Harper, who feels he is not up to the job. The day of his arrival, Kate Marshall, a teacher at the local school, is beaten in her own home and left for dead. The villagers are left in a state of shock.
