Day 13 of the 30 day book talk...

Your Favourite Writer

Well, it will come as no surprise to discover that Diana Gabaldon is my favourite author, and one of the very few writer's whose books I buy in hard cover...and as soon as I finish one book, I anticipate the next with a fervour that borders on the obsessive....

I think it takes a very special writer to initiate and develop a story which not only involves the reader emotionally, but also maintains that emotional involvement throughout the whole of the series...

But, talented though Ms Gabaldon is, she simply can't write quick enough, and so I have a few other favourite authors in my arsenal...

They are:

Barbara Erskine
Philippa Gregory
Karen Maitland
Elizabeth Chadwick

They are all exceptionally good writers of historical fiction, and their combined talents really do "bring history alive "....

Jaffa's choice

The cat books of Marilyn Edwards always make me smile and wish that I could be as famous as the cats of Moon Cottage...

  2. Hi Lindsay - DG books are like Marmite - you'll either love them or hate them...start at the beginning with Cross Stitch, and see how you like the story...:)

  3. Diana's books are addictive in every sense of the word. She carries you away to different places and you swear that you can feel the cold and smell the ash. Pauline
